Spa Glossary
'Know before you go' is the buzz phrase for spas. Nowadays there is a spa to suit everyone and every activity. Some offer archery lessons and others let you pop in for a quick treatment during your lunch break. Consider what your lifestyle demands, and make it a point to discover your personal Spa Style.

Research Your Spa

Choosing your spa is important. Read the brochures and try to get a sense of the environment and whether you will enjoy being there. Do you think the staff is friendly and helpful? Are you comfortable asking questions and discussing your needs and treatments with them?

Know the spa's philosophy because many spas are specialised and vary a great deal. Some specialise in beauty treatments like hairstyling, skin care, and makeup application. Others are designed to be a day's escape, a place to go to relax and reduce your stress. Others maintain a holistic approach to wellness and offer nutrition counselling, exercise classes, and alternative health treatments.

Know what you are looking for and what you hope to achieve from your treatments. Familiarise yourself with the services the spa offers. Ask for a detailed description of the treatments that interest you and know what each treatment entails before you book your appointment.

Arrive Early
Don't rush. Relaxation is one of the benefits of spa treatments and it is important to take full advantage of your visit. Plan to arrive 15-30 minutes before your appointment as most spa treatments begin exactly on time. A late start would shorten your treatment as appointments finish on time in order to avoid inconveniencing the next client.

Consider Other Guests
Enjoy the silence. Spa is a place for quiet and relaxation and we ask guests to leave all cell phones, pagers and music players outside and turned off. Spa a place for you to pamper yourself - leave your children with a babysitter so that you can devote these precious moments to looking after yourself.

Modesty
All of our therapists are women. Most customers undress completely for treatments and remain partially covered with towels or a sheet. If you would rather not be completely undressed, then you can wear undergarments. Ask beforehand about the privacy levels in the dressing, shower facilities and treatment rooms so that you can prepare yourself and feel comfortable.

What to Bring
As little as possible. Our spas provide cotton robes, unlimited towels, and slippers. Many also provide hairstyling and facial products. If you have something important to attend to when you leave, consider bringing your own hair and makeup toiletries. Leave jewellery and valuables in a safe place.

Food
Arrive satiated, neither hungry nor full. If you wish to have a bite to eat, our spas offer healthy meals and drinks. We recommend that you avoid alcohol immediately before or after spa treatments.

Medical History
Be open with your medical history so that your therapist can help you to choose appropriate treatments. It will be useful to know whether you have suffered any trauma or if you have any of the following conditions: high blood pressure, heart condition, allergies, varicose veins, pregnancy or recent surgery.
