Yoga History

Yoga, with a history of more than 4,000 years old, is a system of ancient healing practices which originated from India. The term “Yoga” is derived from Sanskrit which stands for union. The Yoga methodology is aimed at uniting the mind, body and spirit to achieve mental and physical balance as well as well-being.

Yoga is not a religion or belief, but a refined practice to promote good health through a series of postures and proper breathing techniques. Today, Yoga is widely known as a system of wellness and fitness comprising gentle stretches, physical postures, breathing techniques and deep relaxation. As Yoga is a practical methodology based on universal truths, its teachings remain widely popular in both the ancient and modern times.

The strong bonding benefits of Yoga can be felt in various aspects of every individual through the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual states. On top of that, Yoga is also known to be an effective practice to alleviate back problems, improve mental health, flexibility and manage weight issues.

The ancient tradition of Yoga, which means harmonic union, is both a philosophical system and a science that offer us the opportunity to deepen our self-awareness and maintaining physical and mental well-being through physical movement, breathing and meditation.
