The
first flagship Angsana Spa was introduced successfully
at Angsana Resort and Spa in Bintan, a tropical Indonesia
island off Singapore in June 2000. The concept was later
exported to Dusit Laguna Resort, Thailand in July 2000,
Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket and The Panwaburi, a new
boutique hotel in Phuket. Angsana Spa has just arrived
at Angsana Resort and Spa Great Barrier Reef. Angsana
Spa is slated to commence operations in Angsana Resort
& Spa Bangalore, India in April 2001 and Angsana Resort
& Spa Ihuru Maldives in October 2001.
Says
Edwin Yeow, Joint Managing Director of Banyan Tree Hotels
and Resorts, "The launching of Angsana Spa was to
capture the increasing demand and boom in the spa industry.
The initial market response to Angsana Spa as a new brand
that is conceptualized, managed and operated by the Banyan
Tree team was extremely encouraging. Hotel operators and
hotel owners have since approached us to have the Angsana
Spa in their own establishments."
The
Angsana Spa takes its name from the exotic Angsana Tree
a tall, tropical rainforest tree noted for its
crown of golden, fragrant flowers, which burst into bloom
unexpectedly for only a day, then close, and bloom again
suddenly. The Angsana teaches one to live life spontaneously,
to sense the moment and savour time as it passed inexorably.
A
contemporary holistic, non-clinical tropical garden spa,
the Angsana presents a unique blend of spa rituals that
make use of natural ingredients like native flowers, exotic
scents, herbs, spices and plants. Drawing expertise from
Banyan Tree, Angsana places special emphasis the use of
aromatherapy and the sense of touch in the pampering of
the body, mind and soul. Set in the most breathtaking
settings ranging from seaside pavilions to lush garden
terraces, the privacy and tranquility at the Angsana retreat
allows one to shed the cares of the world and re-discover
sensory pleasures. The assurance of renewal and rejuvenation
of the inner self is a commitment that Angsana Spa will
deliver to every guest.
Angsana Spas, managed by Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts,
will deliver standards of excellence that has become synonymous
with the Banyan Tree master brand. Among the signature
spa rituals available on the Angsana Spa menu are:
Taste of Heaven (1 hour 30 minutes) ~ The ritual
starts with using fresh milk, honey, oatmeal, tamarind
and watermelon for a scrub to remove dead skin cells and
replenish moisture to reveal softer, smoother and shinier
skin. The treatment is completed with an entire body massage
combining Thai and Western techniques to reduce tension
and soothes sore and fatigued muscles.
Contentment In Paradise (2 hours) ~ This treatment
begins with a Tangerine Body Wrap using a special blend
of fresh orange juice and rice flour with a light massage
of fruit body lotion. The natural fruit acids cleanse
and detoxify, leaving skin feeling smooth and soft. The
treatment is ends with a Sensual Massage using aromatic
oils applied with special massage technique over the entire
body to invigorate those suffering from fatigue or jet
lag.
Satisfy Your Soul (3 hours)
~
The ritual starts with a Thai Herbal Body Wrap using white
mud mixed with Thai herbs applied to the body to cleanse
and detoxify the skin to remove excess oil. This is followed
by the Angsana Massage using the palm and fingertip pressure
to stimulate muscles for improved circulation to yield
total relaxation and a sense of well-being. The treatment
finishes with an Angsana Facial using natural ingredients
such as brown sugar, watermelon, yogurt, honey and egg
white.
