Angsana Spa Introduces Thai & Asian Spa Remedies To The Pacific Island Of Guam

Tropical Garden Spa in Guam a Planned Move to Strengthen Banyan Tree Group’s Market Position in Oceania

Guam, USA, May 2003

Angsana Spa, a contemporary spa brand by the award-winning Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, will launch a new spa in Guam Marriott Resort at Tumon Bay on 15 May 2003, in a planned development to further its brand’s and the group’s market position in the Oceania region.

The establishment of an Angsana Spa in the Pacific Islands follows the opening of its first Day Spa in Sydney, Australia, another key market in the Oceania region. This is the first time that Thai and Asian spa remedies will be introduced to spa aficionados in Guam. Created in October 1999 to enable parent company, the Banyan Tree group, to diversify into other markets and operations, the three-year-old Angsana Spa has, to date, rapidly expanded to a total of 14 spas in seven countries in Asia and the Pacific including Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Taiwan, the Maldives, Hong Kong and Guam.

The name Angsana Spa is inspired by the statuesque Angsana tree found in the tropical rainforest of Asia that is best noted for its crown of flowers that burst into a fragrant shower of golden-yellow blooms unexpectedly. The glorious Angsana beholds the maxim to live life and savour time as it passes inexorably. Reflecting this vivacious outlook on life, Angsana Spa presents a contemporary setting where holistic therapies draw on the natural goodness of herbs, fruits and flowers to renew the mind, body and spirit.

  Revitalising Spa Therapies
Angsana Spa therapies place special emphasis on the use of natural ingredients such as native flowers, fruits, herbs, spices and plants. Its array of massage treatments is based on the use of aromatherapy, the therapeutic sense of touch and a fusion of techniques from the East and West to refresh and rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit. Signature therapies of Angsana Spa at the Guam Marriott include:

Essence of Angsana:
Serenity:
A two-and-a-half hours of sheer heaven that you won’t find anywhere but here! It combines Angsana Massage with Milk & Rice Pouch Treatment and Pine Bath.

Java Jive: A revelation of Indonesia’s ancient beauty secrets that used to be traditionally reserved for Java princes and brides. Starting with Ibu’s Secret Massage, followed by Lulur Scrub a Yoghurt Splash as finale.

Massage:
Angsana: Created exclusively for Angsana Spa using specially formulated Euphoria Oil. It frees you from stress as well as strengthens your inner ‘Qi’.

Fusion: A cleaver blend of Thai and Swedish massage techniques using Invigorating Oil. It soothes all muscle aches and relief stiffness.

Skin Enhancer:
Go-Bananas: All of the goodness of Vitamin A and Potassium from the banana in this mask will leave your skin soft and supple.

Paw Paw Paradise: A magical blend of papaya and mint that your skin needs to perk up after a particularly greasy time.

Spirited Contemporary Settings

Angsana Spa at the Guam Marriott is located on the beachfront of Tumon Bay, just a short distance to Guam's premier dining, shopping and entertainment district. Guam Marriott Resort is a mere five-minute drive from Guam International Airport and a ten-minute drive from Guam's central business area, Hagatna.

The Spa comprises nine Spa Therapy Suites, a Facial Therapy Room and an Angsana Gallery. The interior design and exterior architecture of Angsana is a spirited juxtaposition that blends contemporary chic with traditional grandeur – forming an elegant contrast with the effervescent background of purple, orange, lime green and yellow, reflected on the surroundings walls.

Angsana Gallery
The signature Angsana Gallery will cater to guests who wish to replicate the Angsana Spa experience in the privacy of their own home. The gallery features a collection of aromatic bath and essential oils, incense fragrances and scented candles, natural hair and body care products, fashion items, spa music and home spa accessories.

Introductory Offer & Reservations
To commemorate the soft opening, Angsana Spa at the Guam Marriott will be offering a 15% introductory discount on all a la carte therapies such as holistic massages, skin enhancers, massage-on-the-go, facial and happy endings. The offer is valid for three months from 15 May to 15 August 2003.
