Angsana Spa Double Bay Now Ranks Amongst Top Ten Day Spas Worldwide*

Year-old Spa Voted into Category’s 6th Position in First Conde Nast Traveller’s Annual Spa Awards

Sydney, 16 February 2004

In the inaugural Conde Nast Traveller’s Readers’ Spa Awards 2004, Angsana Resorts & Spa’s first and only day spa, the Angsana Spa Double Bay Sydney (Australia) was voted number six in the “Overseas Urban Day Spa” category of listing, of top ten spas outside the United Kingdom*.

The ranking was determined by a reader’s choice survey conducted by Conde Nast Traveller, one of the world’s leading travel publications. Readers voted for spas around the world based on their satisfaction with the ambience, décor, amenities, body and facial treatments, cuisine, exercise programmes and service quality. Angsana Spa Double Bay scored 93.33 points out of a possible 100 to place it in the sixth position, ahead of Agua Spa at Miami’s Delano Hotel, s.k.i.n The Wellness Spa in Cape Town, The Dome Retreat at Brisbane Marriott Hotel and Le Spa NUXE in Paris.

Angsana Spa was conceptualised, developed and managed by multiple award-winning Banyan Tree Spa. The group opened its first day spa in Double Bay, Sydney in January 2003 with a menu of 39 massages, body polishers, skin enhancers, facials and fusion baths that add a new twist to the traditional health and beauty recipes of the East. This accolade is a double celebration for the Day Spa which has just completed its first year of operation with promising results, thanks to the support of spa enthusiasts, local media, state and local tourism organisations as well as ground marketing partners.

No stranger to Australian holidaymakers, Angsana Resorts & Spa has garnered a loyal following since its debut in September 2000 in Palm Cove. Angsana Spa was instrumental in positioning Palm Cove as Australia's spa destination, a reputation that was sealed with Angsana Spa Great Barrier Reef being conferred the “Best Hotel Health/Day Spa” honour at the 2003 HM Awards for Hotel & Accommodation Excellence across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

Angsana Spa has also received the following commendations since its launch in 2000:

Angsana Spa Ihuru (Maldives) – Top 100 spas of the world” by Harper’s and Queens 2003, a high-end travel publication based in the UK.

Angsana Great Barrier Reef (Australia) – “Top 10 Spa Resorts in Asia Pacific” by C.E.I. Asia Pacific Magazine 2001, a renowned MICE publication in the region.
